Adorable granny style?

Grannies are stylish. And practical.
The great indicator of clothes is one's parents opinion. Like my dad tought this blue top from Indiska was gorgeous. Usually I hear it's really granny-like..

My new beanie. Prässätty myssy. Didn't look good at all. Somebody please tell me why the kavennus/stitching looks like this??

So I turned it inside out and it looks much better! I still need some advice. Probably from my grannie ;-)

I need a rubber band to get the welt (resori) tighter. This is not very good because it's too tight. One gets red line on forehead from this. Any hints?

This is my favourite beanie! But it's from H&M and 79% acrylic so it's quite crap quality. Nowadays I'm gonna avoid anything made acrylic because it doesn't last. Anyhow the plan is to copy the modell and make a new one. Apparently it's not as easy as I hoped. The modell of this kind of beanie is just perfect. One's hair doesn't get flat and it's so cute.

Granny style top? Or is this school girl? Anyhow I love it. It's from H&M and not made of acrylic ;-) In my future working life I need more clothes in this style. With higher neckline.

Käsityöihmisten kirja! Toi kirja itsessään on aika jenkki, mutta idea on varsin söpö. Ja siinä neulotaan koko ajan. Keveää kesälukemista.

My next beanie will be of this yarn. A summer beanie probably.

Loistava kirja!

Monday and All that Jazz

Monday comes always too soon. Today I was so tired that I didn't do what I was supposed to and just went for a nap.

After a while my phone started to ring. It was first my brother and then my dad.

Because of the recent events in our family I got this nasty feeling that something bad had happened.

It's like nowadays when two of my family members call at the same time.

Well, they were just going to dinner in Kolme Kruunua and wanted to know if I wanna hang along.

When we went to the restaurang there was a piano in the middle. And after a while, a woman started palying and singing.

It was jazz. It was so good, she had a great voice. Apparently they have live music in Kolme Kruunua once a week. I never knew this.

The music was nice suprise and the food there is amazing. We had even desert...

I wonder if there's loads of places like that in Helsinki? I'm not keen to go to Storyville though. But some jazz every now and then would be great!

Okay it's still some more monday left so I'm just going to crawl back on the bed.

Have a good week.

Löytöretket jatkuvat

The flea market has been a gold mine lately! This scarf was 35 cents and it matches with my tights! The tights which that was missing were found in my closet...

I like purple or is this lilac! It'll be beautiful in summer for that relaxed look. It cost 1 e.

This amazing t-shirt I got for 50 cents. It looked really great on my friend´s pregnant belly ;-)
The colour is just right and the motifs fun.

This hoodie was 4 euros. The details of the fabric make it more special. Black hoodies are always good to have.

Lista on pitkä. Onneksi olen lähdössä matkalla ja sieltä voi hyvillä mielin tehdä hankintoja, koska eihän Suomesta löydä mitään kivaa..

...Paitsi nähtävästi kirppiksiltä.

Sit kesällä...

Summer shoes from flea market today for 1 e.

Puoli kymmeneltä on aika hyvä.

New ice cream flavour, white chocolate and salmiakki. Mums.

Kokeilin ja ihastuin! Jäätelön syöminen lumisateessa on jotenkin ilahduttavan kapinallista.

Dreaming of summer. Is it really spring now? Last December my Australian friend was visiting and really wanted to see snow . What can I say, we never know when we get it or how long it stays.

Presents Vol. 1

Who doesn't like presents?
Pack of Islandic Sisu is great!

A girl can't ever have too many accessories. Prefarably a collection of different kinds and colours.

Something very unexpected! Now I can join the wig-club and the bad hair days are over. Pretty in pinki indeed...

I've always wanted a horse. On Christmas I got three.

My precious. I got it from a friend when I moved away from Lund. It was filled with other girly stuff. (My sister has been trying to get it from me, but it's my precious...)

When walls are not enough:

I was really happy about this. Can't wait for the new flat so can actually hang up the hanging photoclip mobile!

Cards are important, like half of the presents... This is great, funny and so stylish. It still makes me smile...

A motif card for black and white-party. Genious.

This is marvellous. Talk about attitude!

Sometimes you get spoiled... Thanks my love. The point is that my boyfriend THOUGHT that buying presents is horrible and not worth a while. He also dreams of life were presents don't exist. (That dream won't come true, SORRY.) But as my brother puts it, everybody likes getting presents.

After these beautiful shoes (and all the other great & lovely things) I'm sure that hating buying presents is just an excuse.

I also think that if you don't know what the person need or like, don't buy just for buying. Presents you can use, like giftcards, movietickets, are much better.

Lisää kirppislöytöjä

Viime viikonloppuna tulin kotiin Valtterista mukanani kassillinen oikein hyvää tavaraa.

Neuletakki H&M
Toppi JC
Hame Vila

Villasukat joo. Pakkanen paukkuu kuin viimeistä päivää, vaikka huhtikuu kolkuttelee jo ovella.

Tämän ihanan henkarin olen joskus kauan sitten ostanut Lundista.

Laces & Pearls

Before Christmas we had lace-project in the Handicraft Club (Askartelukerho). From flea markets and grandparents' attics we collected lace and starched it.

With (fishing) line it's easy to attach the hooks, safety pins and plastic pearls.

Lace can be starched with sugar and water. Mix 1 dl hot water and 1 dl sugar and soak the lace in the mixture. Then shape the lace the way you want it on a greaseproof paper on something flat and let it dry. It's suppose to dry in 24 hours, but the longer you wait, the stiffer the lace gets.

If you don't trust the sugar+water-mix, there's fabric stiffener in the handicraft stores. We tried both and they worked. Tho if the lace gets wet, the starch disappears. So careful with the rain!

These lovely flowers were made in a summer camp last year. Doing these requires patience. I'm still in a process of attaching the safety pins on them...

Shoes Vol. 1

Boots from Dinsko. Real letter, found them in Stockholm in the January sales. 4 cm is okay heel for me ;-)

Boots from Istanbul. Basic with nice detail with the poppers. These are like mid-season shoes, way too thin and slippery in the winter.

I love these shoes, I bought them myself as a present when I graduated. They are really good quality and really comfy. These are probably the most expensive shoes I have and one of the few pairs I haven't bought on sale. So when you're loaded and go to Stockholm I recommend a visit in KNULP.

This pair was my birthday present! I was really impressed of my boyfriend! These are really cool, can't wait for the spring to come. The sole is quite thin so I need to visit shoemaker and get them fixed.
These I found last year from flea market for 4 e and they are brand new. These work really well with skirts and dresses as well. Cute.

Karhu-shoes, the old weight lifting-style. I really like them and they are good quality but I found it diffivult to combine them with anything. The pants look funny, same as skirts. Oh well.

Luottopopot! For me Adidas-sneakers are the best, especially when you need to walk a lot. So these are the firts shoes I pack with me on travells. They look okay with skirts and dresses too.

These I found in Leipzig for 25 e ! Onitsuka Tiger wow. really good for rainy days, they keep my feet dry and warm. The laces are bit of pain in the ass but I'm going to try out rubber band if that will be more practical.

Sailor-look and the Challenge of Dark Blue

Well that is a bit too much, especially the eyes... Picture from here.

My biggest problem with sailor-look is that it often reminds me of the Finnish flag. And that I don't wear white clothes. White doesn't suit me at all. Okay maybe if I'm tanned and pretty in the summer. White clothes always seem to get dirty. That probably tells more about me than of the colour.

Picture from here.

Skulls! It's probably not IN anymore. But too official clothes need some attitude. Works.

Picture from here.

Real sailor skirt. Don't know about the gold. Not on me. (Because I don't like gold, white, yellow, beige, continue the list later on...)

I invested in this top. It's sailor-like and this much white is good. It was 50 cents on the flea market. Me=very happy.

The pocket looks cute. Probably very handy in some point. But then all the problems started. Dark blue is actually difficult to combine with anything. Or I'm crazy.

This looks kinda boring. Tho my co-worker said the skirt was funky. Well I guess it's the age difference. For me this is very adult skirt and that's why I rarely wear it.

Not good at all. Black doesn't work. Usually I choose black but this no, no, no.

I don't know about this either. I look like a school girl. (The skirt looks funny because I had it on wrong way, whoops.)

Conclusion: I need a new skirt from Istanbul (I'll be there in a while and dreaming of the cheap outlets.)

Sailor-style ghost. Or Finnish flag in disguise...
